COMIC BOOK COLOR GUIDES BOUGHT & SOLD!
"WHAT IS A COLOR GUIDE?"
QUESTION: What are color guides or colorist artwork, as they are also called?
ANSWER: Much like original artwork, color guides are also one of a kind and were vital in the production of the actual comic book. They're re-sized copies of the pencil & ink original art that are assigned to the issue's colorist, and then hand colored/hand painted by that colorist. The page sizes vary, but the images on the paper are pretty much the same size as the published comic. Once in a while, a color guide page is referred to as a "color key", but the term color keys has fallen out of common use in recent years. Some color guides are assigned written "color codes" for the printers to follow. There won't be any new color guides to collect since computers made them extinct.
